February Blog Post: Revolutionizing Efficiency and Investing in Future Talent

This month, we’re showcasing some of our current and recent projects, including the ongoing installation of an Automated Distribution System (ADS), a bespoke blood system upgrade. We’re also taking time to celebrate National Apprenticeship Week and the bright future of engineering talent.

Current Projects: Driving Efficiency and Excellence

ADS Installation – Transforming Trailer Loading

We’re in the middle of installing one of our innovative Automated Distribution Systems (ADS) for a client, and the project is progressing smoothly. Designed for non-self-levelling solid and semi-solid products, including food, by-products, and feathers, the ADS is a game-changer for transport logistics.

Key Features of the ADS

• Precision and Control: With RADAR technology and encoders, the ADS ensures even loading across the trailer, eliminating the need for laborious trailer movements.
• Live Monitoring: A PLC HMI screen and modem provide real-time insights into load levels, ensuring precise control. Automatic data backup to USB and Ethernet connectivity guarantee seamless record-keeping and compliance.
• Durability and Hygiene: The system features a stainless-steel bin with pneumatically operated trap doors, ensuring uniform and hygienic loading across the trailer.

Once installed, the ADS will help our client save time, reduce environmental costs, and ensure efficient, consistent trailer loading.

Bespoke Blood System Upgrade

Another project we’ve been working on involves a bespoke blood handling system upgrade for a client. This includes:

• Relocating a blow pot to a more accessible location
• Replacing ABS pipework to stainless steel pipework.
• Replacing a mild steel tank with a hygienic stainless steel tank, improving durability and meeting industry hygiene standards.

This upgrade is a testament to our ability to adapt and deliver tailored solutions to meet specific client needs.

Celebrating National Apprenticeship Week

February marks National Apprenticeship Week, and we’re proud to celebrate our amazing apprentices and their contributions to Customate.

At Customate, we see apprenticeships as an investment in the future of engineering. Through our partnership with Lancashire and Morecambe College, we provide hands-on learning opportunities, mentorship, and access to exciting projects for aspiring engineers.

This year, we’re proud to support:

• A first-year apprentice, who has hit the ground running, learning foundational skills and already contributing to key projects.
• A Third-year apprentice, who has shown tremendous growth and is now taking on more advanced responsibilities.

Their enthusiasm, energy, and fresh perspectives are invaluable to our team, and their growth reflects the importance of investing in young talent.
